Writing with a Word Processor

When you use a computer to write letters, memos, or reports you are word processing.

Word processing includes more than typing. A typewriter could only put letters on paper. Today, using computers, you can do much more:

  1. check spelling (truk - truck)
  2. check grammar (He were going to the store)
  3. move words from one place on a page to another place
  4. change styles (italics, bold, underline, color)
  5. change typeface and font

If you make a mistake on a typewriter you must type the entire page again.
If you make a mistake on a word processor you can fix the one mistake and move on.
